The 2020 Asia Cup has been postponed. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) said in a statement that the decision was taken in the wake of the Cavid-19 situation, "considering travel bans, quarantine obligations across the country, and basic health risks."

However, it was denied by the PCB and the BCB. In a statement on Thursday, the ACC officially announced the decision to postpone the Asia Cup. The ACC met several times in September to discuss the reality of the tournament in the wake of the Asia Cup. Initially, they were in favor of hosting the tournament at the scheduled time, but had to change their minds later.

"Above all, the health and safety risks of the players, support staff, business associates, supporters and the cricket community have become significant, so the board has decided to postpone the 2020 Asia Cup," he said. In appropriate circumstances, it will be the first priority, ”the ACC said in a statement. The company hopes to host the tournament in June 2021.

Even though this year's tournament was supposed to be held in Pakistan, the PCB and SLC exchanged the rights to host it, so Sri Lanka was supposed to host this year's tournament. The ACC says Sri Lanka will host the tournament in 2021, while Pakistan will host its next event in 2022.

Bangladesh's return to international cricket was delayed once again due to the postponement of the Asia Cup. Earlier, the tour of Ireland and United Kingdom, Bangladesh tour of Australia and New Zealand have been postponed. If the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia is also postponed, only New Zealand tour (T20) and Sri Lanka (ODI) tour will be included in the FTP for Bangladesh.

On July 4, Minhazul Abedin, the chief selector of the national team, told CricketBaz that they were waiting for the decision of the Asia Cup. When it was decided to organize the tournament, he said it would be a preliminary camp with 24 people, or a skill camp with 36 people. The Bangladesh national team has been away from international cricket since the series against Zimbabwe, and the Dhaka Premier League has also been suspended after one round.
