Khulna got Mashrafe in Bangabandhu T20 Cup

Khulna got Masrafi through lottery

Mashrafe bin Murtaza will play in Jamcon Khulna in Bangabandhu T20 Cup. His team has been determined through a lottery at the BCB office on Sunday. As a result, he will join Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah, if Kovid-19 is negative.

Mashrafe suffered a hamstring injury after recovering from Covid-19 last June, leaving Bangabandhu out of the T20 Cup Players' Draft. However, he returned to practice on December 1 in the middle of the tournament, the possibility of playing in the tournament was also heard.

After that, four teams were interested in getting Mashrafe. Fortune Barisal was the first to apply to the BCB to take him, they said. Then Jamcon Khulna, Minister Rajshahi, Beximco Dhaka also became interested in Mashrafe.

As per the rules of the tournament, players cannot take any team from outside the draft. But if Mashrafe is fit, every team will have a chance to take him, the BCB told the teams before the draft, said the chairman of Fortune Barisal. He also mentioned the possibility of a lottery if more than one party applied for him.

Mashrafe gave a fitness test on Sunday on the way to play in the tournament. He told The Business Standard that he has passed it. He also gave a sample of Covid-19 test on this day. As soon as he gets the result, he will join the team in the bio-secure zone.

Jamcon Khulna will play its 6th match against Minister Rajshahi on Sunday. Their next match is on December 6. They now have 6 points in 5 matches. So Mashrafe will have 2 matches before the play-off.

Mashrafe last played a competitive match in the Dhaka Premier League in March this year, having earlier given up the ODI captaincy in a series against Zimbabwe.
