Mohammedan captain Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for three matches and fined Tk 5 lakh for breaking the discipline and kicking the umpire against Abahani in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).

Shakib received the notice of punishment sent by match referee Morshedul Alam on Saturday afternoon . In the letter, the match referee accused Shakib of violating the level-3 code of conduct.

It is learned that Shakib confessed to the crime and signed the letter. There will be no further hearing on the matter as there is no objection to the punishment. Kazi Inam Ahmed, chairman of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) and director of the BCB, told media on Saturday evening that the final decision on the match rested with the umpire and the match referee. Action has been taken accordingly.

According to the rules, for the first time, misconduct of level-3 level is punishable by expulsion from at least 1 match to a maximum of 2 matches and a fine of at least Tk 25,000. If he commits Level-3 offense for the second time in the same match, he will be punished with expulsion from 2 to 5 matches and a fine of at least Tk 25,000.

 Shakib has been expelled in the minimum match for two offenses. 1 match for the first offense and 2 matches for the second offense. Mohammedan captain Shakib has twice violated the code of conduct against Abahani at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.

Earlier, sources at the Mohammedan club said Shakib had been recommended for four matches. Shakib kicked the stumps in the Premier League against Abahani captain Mushfiqur Rahim yesterday after the umpire did not respond to LBW's plea. When it rained in the next over, the umpire stopped the game and Shakib picked up the stumps again.
