The 2020 ICC Men's Twenty20 World Cup has been postponed. The tournament was scheduled to take place in Australia in September-October this year. However, this is not happening due to the Kavid-19 epidemic, it has been postponed until October-November next year. The decision was announced after a meeting of the ICC's IBS board on Monday. However, the ICC has not confirmed whether the event will be held in Australia. According to the old schedule, the next edition of the T20 World Cup was to be held in India in 2021. It has been reported that there will be another T20 World Cup in 2022, but the venue has not been confirmed.

"In order to make the 2021 and 2022 World Cups safer and more successful, the IBC Board will continue to monitor and monitor the rapidly changing situation and all types of information," the statement said. Though the decision to postpone the T20 World Cup has been taken now, there were indications about it earlier. Organizer Cricket Australia also said it would be unrealistic or difficult to host the T20 World Cup this year. However, after several discussions, the ICC had to wait until July to take a final decision.

The timing of the ICC tournament according to the new schedule

 ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021:
October-November (Final 14 November) (Hosts not finalized)

ICC Men's Twenty20 World Cup 2022: October-November (Final 13 November) (Host not finalized)

ICC Men's World Cup 2023: October-November (Final November 26) (Host India)

"We have taken a wide and complex alternative approach, and in this process the health and safety of all those involved in our game is paramount," ICC chief executive Manu Saoni said in a statement. "The decision to postpone the ICC Men's Twenty20 World Cup has been taken after careful consideration of all options," he said. This has created the possibility of hosting two safe and successful Twenty20 World Cups for fans around the world, ”he said. The 2023 World Cup schedule has also lagged behind in finding a place for the bilateral series in the Covid-19 epidemic.

The FTP is scheduled to hold the tournament in India in February-March, but now it will be held in October-November of that year. This will allow the boards to host their postponed bilateral series and domestic cricket, Saoni said. Despite postponing the boys 'T20 World Cup, the ICC is still optimistic about the girls' ODI World Cup in February-March next year. The tournament will be held in New Zealand at the scheduled time, they said. Although the qualifiers for this year's tournament have been postponed, the ICC has not announced its new schedule.
